Chenxi Zhang is a composer  from Jiangsu, China, specializing in hybrid and electronic music for screen. She has scored a wide range of animated films and narrative projects, bringing a strong sense of experimentation and innovation to her work through her background in sound design.

 

With a deep interest in texture, timbre, and electronic manipulation, Chenxi approaches music as an extension of storytelling. Her sound design training informs her compositional voice, allowing her to seamlessly blend musical structure with atmospheric and experimental sound worlds in service of the narrative.

 

Her work has received recognition from international festivals and institutions. Projects she contributed to as a composer and sound designer have been selected for the Chicago International Film Festival, the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival,  and the Beijing Film Academy Animation Awards, where her work received the Experimental Innovation Award.

 

Chenxi earned her BFA in Recording Arts from Communication University of Zhejiang, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen at Columbia College Chicago, where she continues to develop her artistic voice through film scoring, sound design, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
